PDP to begin searching for fresh presidential candidate ahead of 2023 election

The Chairman Board of Trustees Walid Jibrin, to the Nigeria’s biggest opposition party, People Democratic Party, PDP, has declared that the party will commence searching for fresh presidential candidate for 2023 election.

The Second Republic lawmaker made this declaration in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna, noting that every one is eligible to contest on PDP platform.

According to him, there is no any barrier among party members from any Nigerian political zone as any one is free to contest

Jibrin added, Atiku Abubakar, the former candidate of the party, is free to contest if he wants like any other candidate

“After all, Atiku couldn’t have been adjudged to have failed in the last presidential elections,”

“Atiku is a Nigerian. Has he really failed in that (2019) election?

“The case went from the tribunal to the appeal court and up to the Supreme Court.

“If Atiku wants, he has the right to do so and other people have the right to do so.

“Do you think it’s only Atiku that wants to contest?” he asked.

“On the presidential candidate, the National Working Committee, in consultation with all relevant organs, will reveal the plan about our presidential candidate.

“I don’t think there is anything wrong to allow anybody from any zone to show interest, but our collective decision will bring out an agreeable candidate.”
